One Program, Two Formats

The Master of Public Administration program at UNC-Chapel Hill is a nationally ranked degree program for either full-time or part-time students. With courses ranging from management, leadership, to public policy analysis and project evaluation, the program educates leaders to serve in local, state, and federal governments and the nonprofit sector. The Master of Public Administration program is ranked in the top 25 programs in the country by US News and World Report and 2nd in the area of city management/local government.

The on-campus format offers a full-time, two-year degree and serves approximately 50 students annually.  Students start together and end together and benefit from the cohort experience.  Classes are typically held during the day Monday-Thursday.  

The online format, MPA@UNC, offers part-time and full-time options and serves around 200 students annually. MPA@UNC combines the flexibility of online education through the delivery of self-paced coursework and live face to face sessions held in the evening and facilitated by skilled instructors.
