Wally Hill Merit Scholarship Endowment

History

Wally Hill’s career began in Wake County serving as an administrative analyst and later as assistant manager. He went on to work as county administrator for Yuma County, Arizona, and San Bernardino County, California; deputy county administrator for Hillsborough County, Florida; assistant chief operating officer for the City of San Diego; and closed out his career as manager for the City of Hemet, California. Throughout his career he trained more than 100 government managers and supervisors in group facilitation skills.

Hill established the scholarship to encourage academically gifted students to pursue an education and career in local government management.

Recipient

The Wally Hill Merit Scholarship is awarded annually to a scholar who has demonstrated academic excellence based on graduate admission exams (GRE, GMAT, and/or LSAT), and/or GPA, and other relevant data points.
