If you have been deciding what to do for graduate school and have been considering the above paths, you won’t want to miss this event hosted by UNC MPA.  We will host faculty members Charles Szypszak, Maureen Berner, and Jonathan Morgan to discuss what the MPA is, who it is for, and how it relates to and differs from the J.D. degree and Masters of Public Policy degrees.  This event is open to anyone interested in these degrees and looking for some perspective on graduate school and program outcomes.

The Promises and Perils of Artificial Intelligence for Public Administration and Government

Join David Yokum, JD, PhD, North Carolina’s Chief Scientist in the Office of State Budget & Management and Professor of the Practice and Director of The Policy Lab at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Data Science & Society, who will lead a panel discussion about AI’s current landscape as it relates to the policies and programs in public service and local government.

A reception will immediately follow the panel discussion.

Please join us for a special topics webinar for those interested in the MPA and careers in the environmental realm.  Our Director of Admissions will be hosting this webinar alongside alum Matt James and current student Allie Omens.  Matt James serves as the Grant Development Manager for The Recycling Partnership out of Raliegh, NC and Allie Omens serves as the Zero Waste Program Coordinator for the City of Nashville, TN.

This event is open to anyone considering the MPA (on-campus or online format) or with interests in environmental affairs.

We will be discussing what the MPA is, who it is for, the pairing of the MPA with environmental interests, and more about our program and how it works.

The UNC MPA program will host a Happy Hour Hub in conjunction with the ICMA conference in Pittsburgh, PA.  (Re)Connect with MPA alumni, students, faculty, and staff for drinks, lite bites, and great conversation.  This event is open to faculty, current students, alumni, and program friends.

This event will take place at The Yard, 11 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

The Fall 2024 MPA Immersion course will be led by Professor John Stephens.  The topic will be ‘Exploration of Artificial Intelligence and Public Administration’.  Immersions are weekend intensive learning opportunities for UNC MPA online and on-campus students which count for credit and require registration.  All programming takes place at the School of Government, Knapp-Sanders building.  Registration is through Connect Carolina.  Contact Elizabeth Langefeld to get registered.

Join students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and their families for some tasty food and great conversation at the annual UNC MPA Alumni Kickoff Picnic. This event is free, and please bring your families, roommates, etc.!

This event will take place at the School of Government in the Dining Room.

Please join us for our UNC MPA August General Information Session featuring current students Russ Pulley and Angelica Foster who will discuss their careers and why they are currently pursuing an MPA.  We will also go in depth on who the MPA is for, how it can support you in your career, and what makes our program the best out there.  We will also discuss the online vs. on-campus formats, the curriculum and student experience, the application process, and financial aid.

This information session is open to anyone considering the MPA (either the online or the on-campus format).

We will talk about why the MPA, the differences between the MPA and other degrees like the MPP and MBA, and what makes our program stand out.
