Brodi Fontenot Public Service Endowed Scholarship

History

Brodi Fontenot’s passion for public sector finance spans his entire federal career, which began at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) where he was charged with ensuring federal funding was effectively used on behalf of taxpayers. He furthered that public finance pursuit while working on the U.S. Senate Budget committee during the difficult budget climate of the Great Financial Crisis. He solidified his belief that effective financial management is a key component of public administration through his senior roles at the U.S. Department of Transportation and as the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Assistant Secretary for Management and nomination to be Treasury’s Chief Financial Officer.

The marrying of deep public sector financial management combined with accountable program administration spurred Brodi to endow this scholarship so that future generations of MPA students will continue to recognize and promote a richer understanding of the linkage of effective financial management and innovative public service delivery.
