Paul Wager Scholarship

History

Established in 1991, the scholarship honors Paul Wager’s distinguished career. Wager taught at UNC-Chapel Hill from 1926 to 1964 and was the first faculty member to teach undergraduate courses in natural resources administration and county administration.

Wager was a pioneer in the study of county governments. For 35 years, he was an editorial consultant and reporter for the county section of Public Management and an editor for National Municipal Review. He also served on the Chapel Hill Planning Board, the Chapel Hill Board of Alderman, and was a charter member of the Chapel Hill Historic Society.
